THIS AND THAT - JANUARY 2017

I LOVE YOU CLAIRE COLBURN, PLEASE RUN AWAY WITH ME!.....

"LIFE IS STRANGER THAN FICTION"..... That quote may be a cliché, but it's still one hundred percent true! If you haven't learned that from everything that has happened in the past two years, then you never will.

Anyway, I never saw the movie ELIZABETHTOWN when it was released in theaters. However, I did watch it in early January on THIS TV ( in WIDEscreen! ).

Drew Baylor ( Orlando Bloom ) works for the shoe division of a big company. He just lost his employer - Alec Baldwin - one BILLION dollars by releasing a product that flopped on the market. He gets fired, minutes later he gets dumped by his superficial girlfriend / coworker ( Jessica Biel ).

When Drew arrives at his apartment, he tries to kill himself but is interrupted by a phone call from his sister. She tells him their father has died. So he hops on a plane to Kentucky.

Screengrabs above are from the movie ELIZABETHTOWN.

A stewardess named Claire Colburn ( Kirsten Dunst ) takes a liking to Drew. They talk endlessly during the flight. She also draws him a map to Elizabethtown and includes her phone number.

Claire is smart, kind, unrestrained, and naturally beautiful. She changes Drew's attitude. Claire comes into Drew's life exactly when he needs her the most.

The type of individual Ms. Dunst portrays, does exist, but they are extremely rare these days - to the point of seeming more like fantasy than reality. During the sixties and seventies, there seemed to be a lot of 'free spirits', or maybe they were just on drugs... ha-ha-ha.

All I know, is that this movie took me to a great place in my mind, and made me feel good, really good. It was like medicine to me.

It was written and directed by Cameron Crowe . It stars Kirsten Dunst, Orlando Bloom, and many other familiar faces - including Susan Sarandon ( but don't hold that against the movie.... lol ).

ELIZABETHTOWN was released on region one DVD by PARAMOUNT.

Warning, PARAMOUNT released ELIZABETHTOWN in two editions. One contains the WIDEscreen version, the other is FULLscreen only!.... Make sure you READ the DVD cover ( front and back! ).

PRINCESS LEA AND KATHY SELDEN ARE SINGING IN THE RAIN.....

OK, so I've never been obsessed with STAR WARS, or STAR TREK, or STAR GATE, or STAR JONES for that matter. But, I was still kinda-sorta shocked to hear about Carrie Fisher's death, followed by her mother's death the very next day.

One of my favorite magicians / writers / actors, Penn Jillette, wrote something in remembrance of her. It was posted on the CNN website.

QUOTES BELOW ARE BY PENN JILLETTE ( from December 28, 2016 - CNN website ) .....

"I met Carrie Fisher in 1990. The crazy freedom fighter and pornographer, Al Goldstein, had invited me as his date to the Adult Video Awards -- the porn awards. They were held in Santa Monica in a circus tent. Al and I were led to a table with Buck Henry and Buck's date, Carrie Fisher. I was star struck"

"We were in porn public. I reached up under Nina's shirt, checked out the surgery, and praised Nina's after-market rack"

"Before Nina even left our table, Carrie said the first words she would ever say to me. "Penn, would you like to feel my breasts? I've been in legitimate features."
