TWIN PEAKS

David Lynch truly is the master of cinematic surrealism. In my opinion, he's the filmmaking equivalent of Salvador Dalí.

He and Mark Frost, came up with a tv show that still doesn't have any equals. Countless folks have tried unsuccessfully to capture the look and feel of TWIN PEAKS in their shows and movies.





The episode involving Maddy Ferguson's death was extremely effective at instilling GENUINE FEAR, and wasn't like anything else shown on U.S. broadcast television. The series finale was also unique.





Some folks actually call TWIN PEAKS a "horror" show. That's a colossal and SIMPLE MINDED INSULT to all the creative folks involved with the show.

The television series and movie were about dark secrets and all the ugly, and absurd things that happen in life.

TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME is the movie prequel to the show.



FIRE WALK WITH ME, is the TWIN PEAKS TV SERIES on LSD!... And I love every mindwarping minute of it!

The movie version of TWIN PEAKS was released approximately a year after the series ended. I remember being one of approximately four dozen folks at the theater. A few walked out, and many laughed at scenes that weren't funny. Did they laugh because it was uncomfortable for them?... I mean, why on earth would any sane person laugh at the sight of a father having sex with his daughter?



The sight of Leland Palmer forcing his screaming daughter and her friend, to run like horses hitched to a stagecoach, still sends chills up and down my spine.

In my opinion, the movie version of THE SHINING and TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME have more in common than you might think.

I've always regarded THE SHINING to be in a league of it's own. It was NOT a true "horror" movie, and it was NOT a "domestic drama". It was both, and that's what made it resonate with so many people. And that's exactly how I feel about TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME.

If there's such a thing as "surreal reality", then both TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME and THE SHINING have that quality by the truck load!

TWIN PEAKS was, and still is, a true American original....

TWIN PEAKS ON HOME VIDEO....

TWIN PEAKS has had a "messy" history on home video.

The TWIN PEAKS PILOT was released on VHS by WARNER BROS ( European version ). The rest of the show was released on VHS by WORLDVISION ( in various versions ).

Both the pilot and rest of show were released on LASERDISC by IMAGE ENTERTAINMENT. I think they also released FIRE WALK WITH ME, but I'm not sure.

For a long time, you could only get the pilot episode on DVD as an import from Asia.

Meanwhile, season 1 was released on DVD by ARTISAN ( note: the pilot episode was NOT included in the season one set! ).

Season two was released years later by PARAMOUNT.



The COMPLETE SERIES - pilot included - was finally released on DVD by PARAMOUNT / CBS.

FIRE WALK WITH ME was released on DVD by WARNER BROS / NEW LINE.



A TWIN PEAKS music CD was released by WARNER BROS. The FIRE WALK WITH ME CD was also released by WARNER BROS.



As far as I know, three official TWIN PEAKS books were published by POCKET BOOKS.

There were many other "official" items. Such as, an audio tape, a newsletter, a calendar, trading cards, and even a board game... Good luck trying to find them!
