RANDOM THOUGHTS: MOVIES & SHOWS ( APRIL 2015 )

Screengrabs from ANGEL'S FLIGHT ( 1965 )

DREAMING IN BLACK & WHITE.....

There are countless movies that have never been released on legit home video ( on any format ).

ANGEL'S FLIGHT is a great example of this. This film is only available via extremely shitty DVD-R... If you're lucky enough to find a vendor that actually has it!

Meanwhile, other films have been found, but only in some sort of altered state. A flick called THE PICK-UP is one such movie. It's only available on DVD-R with burned in Danish subtitles.

You may be able to find both films online, but it's just not the same as getting a legit pressed disc.

I keep hoping someone will find reels that are in decent shape. It doesn't have to be pristine, it just has to be good enough for release on DVD.

I've wanted to add these two films to my collection since the VHS era ( see links below ).....

IRENE MOLLOY.....

A while ago, I wrote about a short lived tv show called ANDY RICHTER CONTROLS THE UNIVERSE.

I mentioned that one of the stars - Irene Molloy - is also a singer. At the time, I could NOT find an official website. Well, someone told me she has two official websites. See links below.....

IRENE MOLLOY ( OFFICIAL WEBSITE )

IRENE MOLLOY ( OFFICIAL FACEBOOK PAGE )

A reminder, I do NOT have a FACEBOOK page, nor do I ever intend to get one.

I've said this before, and I'm going to say it again, Ms. Molloy has got a beautiful and unique singing voice.

NO NEED TO GO BACK.....

For those of you that don't know, there are plans to revisit TWIN PEAKS for a third season, and plans for an X FILES mini-series.

Why can't they just leave it alone?

In my opinion, TWIN PEAKS does NOT need a third season. It ended the way it should have. The movie FIRE WALK WITH ME was a proper follow up to the show. I just don't see the point of bringing it back.

As for the X FILES, season five should have been it's last. I believe no show should last longer than five seasons - unless I'm receiving royalty checks, then it can go on for as long as possible... ha-ha-ha. I also think, there shouldn't be more than twelve episodes per season ( quality NOT quantity ).

  1. A fairly rare film in the same general realm of GENTLEMEN BRONCOS was called THE TROUBLE WITH DICK (1987), and starred Tom Villard as a science fiction writer (a nod to Philip K. Dick) who rooms with a woman and her daughter, and both gals are after him as I recall. The director, Gary Walkow, I recently discovered has uploaded the film to Vimeo. Haven't seen it since it was on Cinemax or something, 25+ years ago. This one deserves a DVD release.

  3. I'm still visiting local Dollar Tree stores, no DVDs and no books to speak of (other than coloring books and word puzzles). Will order GENTLEMEN BRONCOS from Amazon Marketplace today.

  4. It figures. I order a copy from Amazon for a buck plus $4 postage, then drop into another Dollar Tree at random, and find a copy...for a buck! So I guess I'll share the...uh...wealth?
